Prism is an hourly international news briefing. This page covers accounts and the Google data used when you choose Continue with Google.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, Prism asks Google only for openid, your verified email, and your public profile name. We do not request Gmail, contacts, Drive, calendar, or any other Google data.

We use that email (and name, if Google sends one) to:

• create or open your Prism account
• keep you signed in with a session cookie
• remember the news desks you follow, your language, and stories you save

We do not sell this data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train models or to personalize ads.

What else we store

Email-and-password accounts store a password hash, not the password. Phone sign-in stores the number you submit so we can send a PIN. Guest desk choices and saved thumbs can live in this browser until you sign in.

On the hosted site, account files live on the server instance and may be replaced when that instance is recycled. Do not treat a hosted account as a permanent archive.
